An incident free match!

Perhaps not the most exciting start to this blog. I had expected to be writing about badly-behaved players or coaches, but instead today’s match was almost incident free. It was an U17/U18 match in driving rain, with the home team losing 0-7. Very little dissent, which I dealt with by awarding two indirect free-kicks but didn’t issue a card (strictly speaking, I should have issued cards but I was in a forgiving mood) – though the players seemed not to realise a free-kick could be awarded for dissent. Very few fouls – I like to think because I kept up with play and the players realised I’d spot any infringements. And the coaches were nice and quiet on the sidelines.

Not your typical match.
